Strategy FAQs

Want to ask something else? Get in touch.

What do you mean by everything starts with the XYZ?

This is the very first part of our work with you, before we can build a strategy or delivery plan we need to understand the XYZ aka who’s your audience, what are you selling/offering and why should they buy it, use it, join it with you as opposed to somebody else.

From here we then look at gaps, areas of growth, or things that could be working harder and then we map out the areas we need to focus on to meet those objectives. Some might be more obvious than others eg if you’re launching a new product or rebranding, but we look everything including your budget and decide the focus areas that are going to deliver against your objectives and give you best bang for your budget.

What is a brand strategy?

Think of a brand strategy as your business's DNA – it’s the master plan that shapes how your brand looks, feels, sounds, and connects with people. It’s not just about a shiny logo or catchy tagline; it’s about defining your purpose, values, and what makes you unmistakably you. A great brand strategy builds trust, loyalty, and recognition – it’s the compass that ensures all your marketing efforts point in the right direction.

Whether you’re starting from scratch or refreshing an established brand, the right strategy will help you stand out in the market and live rent-free in your audience’s memory. You're not just selling a product or service here – you're selling why you exist.

What is a brand identity?

Your brand identity is essentially your visual and verbal personality – how your brand shows up and introduces itself to the world. It’s everything from your logo, colours, and typography to your tone of voice, messaging, and even the way your website feels. It’s the face (and voice) of your brand that leaves a lasting impression, both online and offline. Done well, a brand identity is consistent, distinctive, and instantly recognisable. It moves you from “Who are you again?” to “We love you, we trust you, and we need what you’re offering!”

What is a marketing strategy?

A marketing strategy is your action plan for winning hearts, driving sales, and growing your business. It outlines how you’ll connect with your audience and persuade them that your product, service, or idea is exactly what they need – even if they didn’t know it yet! It’s a mix of art and analytics, encompassing everything from market research to campaign planning, social media, content, advertising, SEO, and everything in between.

A solid marketing strategy ensures that every pound you put into promotion actually works harder for you. Less “spray and pray” – more impactful, measurable, and targeted results.

What is a PR strategy?

Public Relations (PR) strategy is all about managing your reputation and getting the right people talking about your brand for the right reasons. It’s a carefully planned approach to telling your story, securing press coverage, cultivating influencer relationships, handling crises, and ensuring your message resonates with both your audience and the media.

A killer PR strategy can position you as a thought leader, amplify awareness, and build credibility, turning your brand’s whisper into a roar. Think of it as creating opportunities to shine and making sure the world sees you at your very best.

What is a comms strategy?

A comms (communications) strategy is your blueprint for how, when, and where you engage with your audience – whether that's customers, employees, investors, or the public. It’s about delivering the right message, at the right time, through the right channels. From email newsletters to social media posts, press releases to internal updates, a comms strategy ensures your messages are consistent, clear, and purposeful.Whether you’re launching a new product or navigating a tricky situation (cough crisis comms), it’s what keeps your communication organised, impactful, and, most importantly, heard.

What is a brand tone of voice?

Your tone of voice is how your brand sounds in words, whether you're sending a tweet, writing a brochure, or crafting an email. It’s not just what you say, but how you say it – playful or professional, bold or humble, quirky or refined. Your tone of voice reflects your brand’s personality and helps you connect with your audience on a human level. Get it right, and suddenly your messages feel authentic, relatable, and unmistakably you. Get it wrong, and, well… you risk sounding like that awkward uncle at a wedding trying too hard to be cool.

How can AI help with brand, marketing, PR, and comms strategy?

From brand strategy, customer personas to marketing campaigns, PR outreach to comms planning, AI helps you work smarter, not harder. It can analyse massive amounts of data, predict trends, and even personalise content at scale – whether that’s helping craft bespoke email campaigns or pinpointing the best times to post on social media.

We can help you find tools to support your team and give them training on how to create the best prompts that give them exactly what they need from AI.

Do we need to have an AI policy if we’re using AI for brand, marketing, PR or comms strategy, delivery or success? And can you help us to develop one?

Yes! In fact, you need an AI policy that covers all areas of your business. While AI is an incredible tool that will absolutely help you improve efficiencies and in some area’s creativity, legally, it’s still a minefield. Who owns the IP of content once AI creates it? Do you have a policy on only using closed AI? These are all questions you need to cover in your policy and educate your teams on as AI becomes more mainstream in day-to-day usage.

The good news is that we can help you here, we’re partnered with specialist law-firm Glaisyers to create a process where we can understand your AI needs and then help craft a policy that suits the needs of your business. We can work with your in-house teams including legal teams to create build something that means you can rest easy knowing your team has a clear scope and guidelines for AI usage.
